I'd taken part in a social media course at work and offered to update the facebook page, get us set up on twitter and start up a basic website to get us seen on the web. It's work in progress with lots exciting plans and ideas for the future and a blog is a great place to start a Who's Who of club members.
You can either just send me a photo and some interesting facts about yourself or use the following questions as a guide:
How long have you been running?
What got you into running?
Why do you run?
What's your favourite running route?
Do you take part in races?
What's your greatest running achievement?
How long have you been at Benson Striders and how has it helped you and your running?
Do you use any apps to record your running and if so which ones?
What advice would you give to someone new to running?
What's your favourite motivational motto?
So here's mine to start us off:
How long have you been running? A couple of years and really enjoying it!
What got you into running? A friend who wanted to do the couch to 5k.
Why do you run? To keep fit and relatively healthy.
What's your favourite running route? I love the variety of routes we discover with the club, but probably my favourite is along the river to Wallingford and back which is about 10k.
Do you take part in races? I like taking part in local races, although I've seen something called the Studland Stampede which looks like great fun! And the Dales Trails Series although I'd need to put in a bit more training!
What's your greatest running achievement? I completed the Chalgrove 10k in 54 mins and I'd like to get under 50 mins but I'd probably need to some mid week training for that!
How long have you been at Benson Striders and how has it helped you and your running? Benson Striders is the first running club I've been with, and I really like the no-pressure, supportive, friendly atmosphere. It's allowed me to develop at my own pace and it's great to know that there's always someone faster to run with if I want to push myself to get faster.
Do you use any apps to record your running and if so which ones? I really like Strava which I use for mountain biking as well. I can see my friends workouts which helps with motivation and keeps a record of everything I've done.
What advice would you give to someone new to running or the club? I would say find out what motivates you and think of that to keep you going, especially in the winter. I find it really helps to know there's a group of people ready to go running with on a cold rainy Saturday morning, when I'm tempted to just pull the duvet up higher, but I know I'll feel great having done it.
What's your favourite motivational motto? There's so many, and that's what I love about social media, but my current favourite is old age doesn't make you inactive, inactivity makes you old!
I look forward to hearing from you, come and join me on the Hall of Fame Who's Who :-)
